Sometimes when I’m down I need a moment of retirement Sometimes when I’m beaten I need a moment of escape a place of my own need an inner island mmmh peaceful shades mmmh peaceful shades On days like these I light up candle in the dark on days like these I listen to songs from the heart Sometimes when you’re hopeless and it all seems so complicated Sometimes you’re disheartened ‘bout the troubles that await Find yourself a silent place where you can’t be located mmmh peaceful shades mmmh peaceful shades On days like these light up a candle in the dark on days like these listen to songs from the heart Sometimes I’m feeling blue and I don’t know what’s the reason Bustling and uneasy ‘til the daylight fades and finally it is you to end this restless season mmmh peaceful shades mmmh peaceful shades

On the road again, riding like the wind On a coastal highway northward bound Trying to leave behind all these troubled time On northern light and northern sound Wish I could be riding on forever with my brown eyed angel by my side Wish we could be driving on forever in the calmness of the northern light Weightless time, weightless time It’s pretty cold out there, the first frost of the year Has left some white shades on the ground As far as we can see these forests in dark green Turning into yellow, red and brown Wish I could be riding on forever with my brown eyed angel by my side Wish we could be driving on forever in the calmness of the northern light Weightless time, weightless time The sun is pretty low, long shadows on the road As we crossed the bridge to a hundred island land And we watched the sun go down in a little harbour town And then we get back on the road again Wish I could be riding on forever with my brown eyed angel by my side Wish we could be driving on forever in the calmness of the northern light Weightless time, weightless time

Rainbows 04:53
Well, I’ve had some sunshine and I faced some rain was running against windstorms sometimes ended in pain but I followed the rainbow though I knew that it’s not true and any way the wind blows it led me to you. Mmh mmh mmh One foot on the gas pedal, one foot on the brake A part of me dreaming, a part of me wide awake and I followed the rainbow, though I knew that it’s not true and any way the road goes, all routes led to you Mmh mmh mmh Oh, the wind might keep you from the right way And the sun might be totally blinding you and the rain it might overflow your alleyway but the rainbow makes a dream come true yes, rainbows make dreams come true Oh, the wind might keep you from the right way And the sun might be totally blinding you and the rain it might overflow your alleyway but the rainbow makes a dream come true yes, rainbows make dreams come true Well, I’ve had some sunshine and I faced some rain Was running against windstorms sometimes struggled in vain and I followed the rainbow though I knew the story’s not true and where ever the road goes all routes led to you yes I followed a rainbow though I knew the story’s not true and I’ve found no pot of gold but at last I found you at last I found you

Island Time 03:42
The sun is warm, the sky’s so blue waves are rolling against the shore On the coastal path I follow you ‘cause you know what I’m looking for We had to take some island time ‘cause I could take no more Walking on a stony ground down the canyon by the sea Sheep were grazing all around in their own way living free Among these rocks and animals I guess the biggest fool was me ‘Cause it’s a perfect place for you and me but I got worries on my mind But underneath a cypress tree there’s nothing to loose but some time The next day was a rainy day but it helped to clear my mind Thinking ‘bout the price you pay when you can’t leave the past behind But finally I saw the way in the mirror of your eyes A perfect time for you and me but I got worries on my mind In the face of an old olive tree there’s simple truth for me to find The sun is warm, the skies are blue waves are rolling ‘gainst the shore On the coastal path I follow you ‘cause you know what I’m looking for We had to take some island time ‘cause I could take no more You ‘ve given me some island time I love you forever and some more

There’s a blackbird in our garden right beneath our pond I wonder if it’s thinking ‘bout going south Is it worried ‘bout the travelling looking forward to the sun Or maybe it’s just thinking ‘bout staying at home Fly with me on the wings of love Fly with me on the wings of love There’s some dead weight to be dropped of Some new plants to be sown fly with me to a place called home, a place called home A few moments later the blackbird it is gone For a moment or forever no one knows And a dragon fly’s still circling above our garden pond And maybe that’s the way the story goes Fly with me on the wings of love Fly with me on the wings of love There’s some dead weight to be dropped of Some new plants to be sown Fly with me to a place called home There’s a blackbird in our garden right beneath our pond I wonder if it’s thinking ‘bout going home

I’ve always been the silent one never really talked too long Waiting for the queen of hearts I’ve always been an anxious one waiting for a change to come Waiting for the queen of hearts Starring out of the window wondering which way to go Waiting for the queen of hearts Some times were bad, some times were good I never really understood I was looking for the queen of hearts Hiding behind silent walls working hard ‘til evening falls Waiting for the queen of hearts And I spent some time down by the sea trying to find another me Waiting for the queen of hearts Got afraid of getting old got afraid my fortune’s told Waiting for the queen of hearts Some times were bad, some times were good I never really understood I was looking for the queen of hearts Always one step behind my dreams a disillusioned fool it seemed Waiting for the queen of hearts A road singer on an empty street a jack of hearts with no heart beat Waiting for the queen of hearts But somewhere on the open road between here and Lake Ontario There he found the queen of hearts Some times were bad, some times were good finally I understood I was always looking for the queen of hearts

Once as I was walking through the grasslands all alone Trying to get some distance to the cities I called home Mostly it was raining rained as hard as it could be And I looked for shelter under an old alder tree, an old alder tree Winds are getting stronger bending all the trees The old tree’s no longer a shelter for me Big old bench is breaking right above there where I stand Crashing on my shoulder old trees are hard to bend, old trees hardly bend Then I was young man dreams upon on my mind And I didn’t care then bout any rules that bind Yes I was impatient and I did not understand What we should remembe old trees are hard to bend, old trees hardly bend Now I’m getting older planting trees around my home It’s time to consider I’m an old tree on my own So my love don’t blame me when I don’t understand Try to remember old trees are hard to bend, old trees hardly bend Yes, you are my lover and you give me all I need I don’t need no other to share this life with me If I ever blame you when you don’t understand I will try to remember old trees are hard to bend old trees hardly bend If I ever blame you when I don’t understand I surely will remember old trees are hard to bend, old trees hardly bend

Woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night Dreamed I was alone out there without you by my side And the brightest colours turned into shades of grey And your guiding loving hand is a million miles away But then I opened up my eyes saw you right here by my side And I kept you in my arms ‘til the morning light Fell into a daydream on a long car ride On an empty highway without you by my side And I dreamed that I had lost my way in a cold and shuttered town Nothing that I could hear or say not a single sound But then I saw you standing there on our own home drive And I let you go no more ‘til the morning light Nightmares and daydreams is not what life is for Nightmares and daydreams don’t open any door And when the brightest colours turn into shades of grey And a guiding loving hand is a million miles away Come and open up your eyes there’s someone by your side Go and keep her in your arms ‘til the morning light

Starring out of the window a cold rain’s falling without end Twilight leaves no shadows falling leaves dancing in the wind Some black crows are squabbling at our fire place They don’t care about the dark No I really don’t like rainy days but it’s not raining in my heart. Mmmh where my love goes, I will go Mmmh where my love goes, I will go Mmmh where our life goes, no one knows But mmmh where my heart goes, I will go, I will go Dark clouds upon our valley all the colours turn to grey Black puddles on our alley way and the last light fades away The black crows are heading for their sleeping place Like ghosts they vanish in the dark No I really don’t like rainy days but it’s not raining my heart. Mmmh where my love goes, I will go Mmmh where my love goes, I will go Mmmh where our life goes, no one knows But mmmh where my heart goes, I will go, I will go

Who’s the one who never gets enough Stealing a kiss whenever she wants it Lending a hand whenever I need it No one’s as close as the angel I love Who’s the one that I can’t get enough of Keeping me warm when the night’s getting cold Smiling a smile that I wanna grow old with No one’s as close as the angel I love Who’s the one who treasures my love Guiding my ways with beautiful patience Fighting for me with the heart of a lion No one’s as close as the angel I love

Last Train 02:57
I was sitting at the station Waiting for a one-way train to come Looking at the schedule And it told me the last train is already gone A cold November’s evening but I kept on waiting there For the first train in the morning to take me anywhere The summer it was over, a cool breeze in the air A long cold winter was knocking on my door I was hoping for the last train to take me anywhere Hope is what this life is for And love may be waiting behind the door A lot of winter ‘s gone now Got a house, got a home and I got you Some days in quiet hours I’m thinking bout what I’ve done and what to do And then I’m remembering the cold and drafty track And the last train leaving and never coming back The summer it was over, a cool breeze in the air A long cold winter was knocking on my door I was hoping for the last train to take me anywhere Hope is what this life is for And love was waiting behind the door

Wake Up 03:46
Wake up, my good old friend, wake up Finally the time has come to restart Daylight breaks, the night is gone but keep some stars in your eyes It’s time for a wake-up song and look out at the sunny skies and arise Wake up, my good old friend, wake up Sailing close to the wind and restart There are endless tracks to walk along a river you can swim across A hungry soul won’t loose his song a rolling stone won’t gather moss that’s the cause To wake up, my good old friend, wake up, wake up You have seen so many places but you never really did arrive But who’s the one who holds the aces in a new game of your life And you still hear the warning all these voices from out of the dark But it’s just a new day dawning and now it’s time to follow your heart Mmmh, follow your heart, mmmh, follow your heart Wake up, my good old friend, wake up Try to be yourself again and restart Save some memories of the past but don’t loose yourself in looking back Live your dream and make it last and cut the chains that hold you back from what you lack And wake up, my good old friend, wake up, wake up You have seen so many places but you never really did arrive But you’re the one who holds the aces in this new game of a your life And you still hear the warning all these voices from the dark But it’s just a new day dawning and now it’s time to follow your heart Mmmh, follow your heart, mmmh, follow your heart Wake up, my good old friend, wake up finally the time has come to restart Daylight breaks, the night is gone but keep some stars in your eyes It’s time for a wake-up song and look out at the sunny skies and arise

Standing by the river, running closely to our home Reflections on the water, for a moment all alone Listening to the river, in the shade of old willow trees River keep on running, it’s a long way to the sea. Standing by the river, within a stone’s throw of our door It’s creeping through our valley for a million years or more Talking to the river about my plans, about my dreams I guess we are companions, we are heading for the sea. The river knows the ending of the story ‘bout you and me Maybe it’s a friend and in the end we’ll reach the sea. Standing by the river, not so far from the railway line On the street the cars are rushing by but the river doesn’t mind Talking to the river, about him and about me Guess we are companions, we are bound to meet the sea. The river knows the ending of the story ‘bout you and me Maybe it’s a friend and in the end we’ll reach the sea. Standing by the river, running closely to our home Reflections on the water, for a moment all alone Listening to the river in the shade of old willow trees River keep on running, it’s a long way to the sea. The river knows the ending of the story ‘bout you and me Maybe it’s a friend and in the end we’ll reach the sea.

Take me in your arms, my love The world has done me harm The light outside seems cold, my love The light inside is warm Out there’s someone who treated me wrong In here’s the one to soothe my pain Hold me close all night long and tomorrow ‘I’ll be strong again Sometimes it seems you’re running on a dream And someone has shut it away And sometimes it seems even someone like me Has to hide from the light of the day Out there’s someone who treated me wrong In here’s the one to soothe my pain Hold me close all night long and tomorrow ‘I’ll be strong again Your love is like a guiding light It brightens the darkest day A secret shield on life’s battle field Keeps my on my way Out there’s someone who treated me wrong In here’s the one to soothe my pain Hold me close all night long and tomorrow ‘I’ll be strong again Out there’s someone who treated me wrong But you are the one to soothe my pain Hold me close all night long and tomorrow ‘I’ll be strong again.

about

"Peaceful shades" is the fifth album of the singer and songwriter Shiregreen. In 14 songs, Shiregreen mostly tells autobiographical stories, in the finest songwriting tradition - mostly folk-oriented, sometimes with elements of rock or country, but above all, as the CD title suggests, very peaceful and very relaxing.

Behind the name Shiregreen is the musician Klaus Adamaschek from Rotenburg/Germany, who has gained a solid fan base in recent years, also internationally. Shiregreen has already impressed on his four albums with a distinctive voice, deep lyrics and catchy melodies. The Shiregreen song "Freedom fighter" from the album "Reaching the shore"(2009) won the worldwide songwriter contest Comprosers (Maastricht / Los Angeles 2008).

With "Peaceful Shades" Shiregreen is now presenting its strongest album to date, which doesn't have to shy away from comparison with the great songwriters of the 70s. All songs were recorded live as a band in the studio and then refined with very fine background voices and organ sounds in the second round. This explains the enormously lively and warm sound that fills "Peaceful shades" with high intensity. The band included Klaus Adamaschek (acoustic guitars and harps), Danish guitarist Tom Eriksen, Paul Adamaschek (bass, keyboards, percussion) and Frank Schäfer (drums).

Producer Wolfgang Manns from the renowned Rotenburger Toolhouse studios recorded the pieces largely using analog recording technology, thus creating the authentic sound of the early 70s. The trademark of the ShireGreen CDs is the elaborate design with atmospheric image motifs and a 16-page booklet with all the lyrics.

Some of the songs on "Peaceful shades" deliberately remind of great songwriters of the 70s like Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson or Leonard Cohen; thanks to ShireGreen's warm bass voice and the authentic stories behind the songs, the pieces remain absolutely unmistakable.
