Listen to the sound of the trucks rolling home big engine pounds a few moments later it´s gone Listen to the song that the radio plays A romantical tune it conjures a smile on your face It tells you a story ´bout life and a home And a place where you don´t have to run anymore Now listen to me as I sing you my song `bout reaching the shore. Listen to the sound of the wind round the house Fooling around brings a warm breeze from the south Listen to the song of the birds in the trees Can´t do no wrong living so wild and so free It tells you a story ´bout love and a home And a time when you don´t have to run anymore Now listen to me as I sing you my song `bout reaching the shore. When I listen to you at the end of the day Talking about all the treasures we found on our way When I look at your smile feel the love in my heart Time stops a while time can´t tear us apart This is a story ´bout love and a home And a place where I don´t have to run anymore Now listen to me as I sing you my song `bout reaching the shore. This is a story ´bout love and a home And a place where I don´t have to run anymore Now listen to me as I sing you my song `bout reaching the shore.

C’mon let’s go down to the waterside where we often used to be sit and watchin as the sailboats glide through the white crests of the sea Let’s take a walk along the seaside quay when the tide is coming in smell the taste of the salty spray and feel the changing ways of the wind To the waterside where the sailboats glide where the changing tide is never far where the clear blue light gives an endless sight and noone knows and noone cares what we are C’mon let’s go down to this wonderland where a fire is sinking in the sea I wanna walk with you along the strand hand in hand just you and me C’mon my love let us waste no time let’s pack our bags and get away what we need is some peace of mind and the coastline and the spray To the waterside where the sailboats glide where the changing tide is never far where the clear blue light gives an endless sight and noone knows and noone cares what we are

Dreamstone 04:51
Yes, I can still recall when we were walking Those silent days of fall summer so far gone a pale light on the ocean the world was out of reach and there on the beach we found a dreamstone. Yes you saw it first and we stopped talking out on this windy coast we were all alone a stone with a shape of heart yellow, red, with dots of black and it was me who said this is a dreamstone. Never thought that stones have magic never, anywhere but sure there was a lot of magic in the way we found it there It was not so small and still some miles to go but no doubt at all we had to take it home so we carried it all the way sometimes you and sometimes me and it was clear to see this is a dreamstone. Never thought that stones have magic never, anywhere but sure there was a lot of magic in the way we found it there Now it’s lying here on the edge of our front-porch maybe for a hundred years given to our home and whenever we feel some sadness and need someone who cares we can meet out there this is a dreamstone … and whenever you feel some sadness and need someone who cares you will find me there this is a dreamstone …

Simple Tune 02:48
Out there in the wilderness of this bustling life Out there in the darkness where the sun don’t really shines So many threatening dangers waiting behind the door So few guardian angels who would look out for ….. … my love show me you care cause oh my love It’s a cold wind that’s blowing out there And Oh my love I’ll show you I care ‘cause oh my love It’s a cold wind that’s blowing out there So my love let’s close the door locking out all that fuss Caring about the threats no more better caring about us Let’s do the things that lovers do in the pale light of the moon Listen to a song I wrote for you and a simple tune … my love show me you care cause oh my love It’s a cold wind that’s blowing out there And Oh my love I’ll show you I care ‘cause oh my love It’s a cold wind that’s blowing out there

I remember my old man he told me my son Wherever you go then try to stay on your own way Don’t turn your back on the door Find a life of your own so they can fool you no more So I started searching for life’s an endless school Priests and politicians and whispering fools to tell you What this life is for I need a life of my own so they can fool me no more. So I left my hometown and I found new friends Looking for own truth, digging with own hands to find out What this life is for Looking for a life of my own so they can fool me no more Cold-hearted ladies with beautiful lies They were tryin to fool me behind the disguise of love That’s not what love is for I found a love of my own now they can hurt me no more I remember my old man what he said to his son I’m singing my own songs and my old man is gone so long But he opened the door I got a life of my own, now they can fool me no more.

What does it take to be a lucky one what does it take to be your own friend is it money is it love is it guidance from above that really matters in the end On the french atlantic shore under the pine trees of Carcans once again I`m asking for what I need and what I don`t … Do I need a fancy hotel room do I need a waiter I can call we were dining in the sand we were sleeping in a tent what does really matter most of all? Do I need the daily TV-news `bout some election in a foreign land while we were sitting under stars listen to the sound of my guitar what does really matter in the and? On the french atlantic shore under the pine trees of Carcans once again I`m asking for what I need and what I don`t … Standing on the phare de Cap Feret looking over bassin de arcachon not only echoes from the past but feelings that will last more than a summer long. What does it take to rest deep in yourself when the final curtains fall is it glory, is it fame is it an unforgotten name that really matters most of all? On the french atlantic shore under the pine trees of Carcans once again I`m asking for what I need and what I don`t …

Hello my little girl welcome to the world Such a joy to see your smiling face We were thinking about you for longer than we knew And finally you’re here to find your place This world needs your laughter, this world needs your smile And some of your sweet dreams to come true We need you to look after this world for just a while Welcome little girl we were waiting just for you Hello my little boy this world is not a toy But really not as serious as they say Let your heart be your guide but keep your eyes open wide And don’t let the grumblers stand in your way ‘Cause this world needs your laughter this world needs your smile And some of your wild dreams to come true We need you to look after this world for just a while Welcome little boy we were waiting just for you Hello my little child you’re here for just a while Long enough to leave a mark on here Listen what the elders say then go and find your own way And don’t let them block you with their fears ‘Cause this world needs your laughter this world needs your smile And some of your brave dreams to come true We need you to look after this world for just a while Welcome little child we were waiting just for you

We got a house it’s built of stone Near a river that is calmly flowing We have a garden with some apple trees We got our moments and we got a mystery … Cause sometimes the river is standing still And our house turns to a castle on a hill And the garden to palace grounds of elder times And my lady to a princess when our love shines … We got our jobs sometimes hard to do We got our children so good and true we got a tabby cat climbing up the trees (hunting honey bees) We got our moments and we got a mystery … Cause sometimes the river is standing still And our house turns to a castle on a hill And the garden to palace grounds of elder times And my lady to a princess when our love shines …

This song is just for you who’s living in my heart Without you nothing would be the same In my storybook you play the leading part And on my fire you’re the keeper of the flame This song is just for you my lover and my friend You are my shelter from the rain With your love I will discover no man’s land Without your love I would sail the seas in vain ‘cause your love is like a light on the horizon in the morning A lighthouse on my stormy sea On the darkest sky there’s still a silver lining In the darkest night (there’s) a harbour light for me. This song is just for you‘cause words are not enough And feelings are not easy to explain If freedom means to live without your love I’d would choose the sweetness of your chain ‘ cause your love is like a light on the horizon in the morning A lighthouse on my stormy sea On the darkest sky there’s still a silver lining In the darkest night (there’s) a harbour light for me. This song is just for you who are living in my heart Without you nothing would be the same In my storybook you play the leading part And on my fire you’re the keeper of the flame

There are five guitars in our living room Each of them is a shining star But one of them is a special one Straight from my fathers heart. I can still recall when he got 45 There were birthday songs and birthday cards And this guitar from some good old friends It hit straight into my father´s heart My fathers heart shone like a diamond Could lighten up a room when he came in And he played his part … he kept on smiling And I was proud as hell to be with him. He always liked the simple tunes And he never played like a Nashville star But the melodies of his lifetime dreams They came straight from my fathers heart. I´ll never forget those silent Christmas days I went home no way too far And when we played all these holy stuff Tears of joy from my fathers heart My fathers heart shone like a diamond And I seldom heard the diamond sigh He played his part …. He kept on smiling and our short time was passing by. And he kept on playing even when his days were done when the end was no more far And sometimes at night I still hear him playing I hear songs from my fathers heart. There are five guitars in our living room And one of them is my secret star It`s a compass when I need a guide Straight from my fathers heart My fathers heart shone like a diamond And I never saw the diamond cry He played his part … he kept on smiling Even when his life had passed him by. There are five guitars in our living room

In Between 03:18
Sometimes I look at the covers of my old records just like a book but you have to read it backwards ‘bout roads you took `bout faded dreams and efforts of yesterday. Just like a journey to almost forgotten places Every page you turn reminds you of well known faces A lesson to learn about the hidden traces on your way. And it’s a long road from where it all began And in between there were many dues to pay And a long road to where it all will end but in between there are many songs to play in between. I can still remember I got my first record player in my small chamber listening all night and day in these days of November I started drifting away in my dreams. Now in between forty years are gone And it might seemthe little boy is grown But some of the dreams and most of them old songs they’re still the same. And it’s a long road from where it all began And in between there were many dues to pay And a long road to where it all will end but in between there are many songs to play in between. Sometimes I look at the covers of my old records just like a book but you have to read it backwards ‘bout roads you took `bout faded dreams and efforts of yesterday.

I was born in a coal mining town grew up between funnels and stone I had to learn some rules of the backstreets but in my heart it felt like a home My first money I made at a power house I spent it for my red motor bike Riding through the streets of my hometown I dreamed what it would be like to leave home. Dreams are the premise to wake up to wake up is the premise of going going is the premise of changes changes are the premise to find the way home. I moved to a house in the country mighty walls and three colour TVs high fences all around the garden but it felt like a homestead for me By and by the house it got colder until I was chilled to the bone I was running through the woods and the valleys dreaming what it would be like to leave home. Dreams are the premise to wake up to wake up is the premise of going going is the premise of changes changes are the premise to find the way home I dreamed that I would be a singer singing these songs of my own and I dreamed that I could be a lover loving the one I have found on my way home. Dreams are the premise to wake up to wake up is the premise of going going is the premise of changes changes are the premise to find the way home.

Miles and miles miles and miles miles and miles miles and miles It was a good and peaceful time on the beaches of Carcans but finally we`re on our way back home Nearly 1000 miles to go boring music on the radio think it´s time for another highway song. Miles and miles miles and miles miles and miles miles and miles Field of yellow, fields of green an imagenery scene chateaus and vinyards along the motorway My eyes and heart are opened wide got my loved one by my side looking forward to another loving day. Miles and miles miles and miles miles and miles miles and miles Maybe sometimes I don`t know what I could say But I`m thankful that you`re with me on my way ….. So many miles that we have done since our new life has begun maybe too many but I can`t get enough Many treasures left to earn so much living left to learn it`s not always perfect but it`s love. . Miles and miles miles and miles

There’s no more need for feeling sad there’s no more time to get the blues after all the doubts we had after all that we’ve been through mmmmmm on the long road to love Is it really only six years ago that I’ve been down on the ground No place to hide, no place to go no home where I’m bound Was it by fortune or was it by chance the road that led me to you and it was the laughter in your eyes that hit me out of the blue There’s no more need for feeling sad (no more tears) No more time to get the blues (don’t get the blues) after all the doubts we had (no more fears) after all that we’ve been through (now that we’re through) mmmmmm on the long road to love We have found a place of our own in this shire of green We turned it from a house to a home build on our dreams The sound of the clock on the wall the rhythm of the falling rain the season when the cuckoos call everything has changed There’s no more need for feeling sad (no more tears) No more time to get the blues (don’t get the blues) after all the doubts we had (no more fears) after all that we’ve been through (now that we’re through) mmmmmm on the long road to love The sound of the clock on the wall the rhythm of the falling rain the season when the cuckoos call everything has changed There’s no more need for feeling sad (no more tears) No more time to get the blues (don’t get the blues) after all the doubts we had (no more fears) after all that we’ve been through (now that we’re through) mmmmmm on the long road to love

I remember the days of the engines of steam rolling down the tracks with the young men’s dream The engines deep-black and the wagons dirty-green roll along I stood on the balcony of our tenement home Clouds of white smoke as the train rumbled on My father he told me where the loads were coming from on and on So many stories that used to be told So many trainloads that used to be sold So many memories from these days of old Are they gone, are they really gone ? I remember the mountains of coal on the street Dust in our hair, dust under our feet And at night we listened to the steam engine’s beat roll along Now I’m living with you on our own piece of land In a house that they built when the railway was planned When I look out of the window I can watch them againhere they come A train’s rolling calmly through our valley of green Powered by current that replaced the steam But still it’s conducted by hopes and by dreams keep rolling on So many stories that used to be told So many charges that used to be sold So many dreams that never grow old They are not gone, not really gone

I sat down to write a song at the end of an endless day Tryin to get some rubbish out of my head So I picked some minor chords on my black and old guitar always good for songs sounding a little sad There was a firework on my brain but nothing really seems to fit You can’t get it right when anything is wrong So I laid down my guitar and started thinking about it what does it take to write a song? A good song's just like amber it`s very hard to find almost only with the highest tide or when strong winds are blowing through the dark caves of your mind where love and loss are living side by side So I sat down in the garden maybe talking to the trees always good for some of my favourite lines `bout the shadows of the past and the way back to harmony about nature and its symbols and its signs But there was silence all around no wind, no birds, no rain at this moment all rhyme and reason there were gone So I laid down my guitar to think about it once again what does it take to write a song? A good song's just like amber it`s very hard to find almost only with the highest tide or when strong winds are blowing through the dark caves of your mind where love and loss are living side by side Finally I went back inside and sat down on the floor to have a coffee and to rest a while and downstairs came my lady walking through the kitchen door with her love, her caring and her smile “What about your day?” she asked I said “Nothing but a mess” … “but what`s done is done now that `m back home” So I took up my guitar picked some major chords started writing down this unwritable song. A good song's just like amber it`s very hard to find almost only with the highest tide or when strong winds are blowing through the dark caves of your mind where love and loss are living side by side

Wind’s blowing down the alley bending the trees and a heavy rain is falling on the black and slippery street Windshield wipers are slappin but there’s nearly nothing to see But all of these barriers they don’t mean nothing to me. Passing the badlands covered with dusty old stones And there's a graveyard full of rusty old bones There’s nothing to hold me that keeps me from driving on I gotta get through this dirty town I gotta get home. Now the sun is slowly sinking in the western sky There’s a fire on the horizon and it’s blinding my eyes And in the darkened shadows I hear an angel sigh Come on home my darling as fast as you can fly. Come on home try baby try Come on home my darling as fast as you can fly.

Sometimes when I watch the news and see hungry eyes in a young boy’s face I can’t help to remember a strange encounter of my college days The day was filled with seminars and discussions about poverty and pain - once again and finally I missed the bus and I walked home in the rain I was walking down the boulevards with pretty shops and precious restaurants eventually I lost my way in the sparkling streets of a rich-man’s land A young boy was sitting on the sidewalk a faded baseball-cap in his hand - begging for a cent he was starring into the nothingness and me I was trying to unterstand I said Hey boy what’s your name and he looked up into the pouring rain and Hey boy it’s such a shame and the little man he looked down again For a moment he said nothing I held my umbrella right above his head Then I asked him for his name again “Asimov” that was all he said And I asked him “Are you Russian?” and “Do you like the science fiction writer?” - mmm And I moaned “How could you come this far?” another man’s freedom fighter After a moment of silence he looked up again and starred into my eyes “Hey what are you going to give me? Some money, some food or some lies?” “I don’t know nothing about science-books but I’m hungry each and every day - nothing more to say I dug through my pockets nervously dropped a coin and walked away I said Hey boy what’s your name and he looked up into the pouring rain and Hey boy it’s such a shame and the little man he looked down again I’ d liked to give him shelter set him straight and show him that I care So two or three day later I went back to this placebut Asimov wasn’t there And now, so many years later the petty story still is on my mind - from time to time Maybe a lesson ‘bout poverty but surely ‘bout vanity and pride I said Hey boy what’s your name and he looked up into the pouring rain and Hey boy it’s such a shame and the little man he looked down again

about

"Reaching the shore" - that's the title of a classical album by singer/songwriter ShireGreen from Rotenburg an der Fulda in Germany. And with this intense double album, Shiregreen aka Klaus Adamaschek is actually heading for new shores: "Reaching the shore" offers 19 impressive pieces of the finest songwriter art.

The last ShireGreen album "Dreams and Shadows" had already received excellent reviews nationwide. In the spring of 2008, Shiregreen attracted international attention when he won the worldwide songwriter contest "Comprosers" (Maastricht/Los Angeles 2008) with his song "Freedom fighter", beating out numerous well-known songwriters, primarily from the UK and USA.

"Reaching the shore" offers two different facets: The first CD with the subtitle "to the waterside" mainly contains relaxed love songs, in addition to the obligatory acoustic guitar, a transverse flute, an accordion or an ingratiating female voice can also be heard. The second CD "the long road" is a bit rougher: Here the confrontation with the past is in the foreground, and then lamenting e-guitars and thoughtful blues tones appear.

Some songs are deliberately reminiscent of great songwriters of the 70s like Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson or Leonard Cohen; However, thanks to ShireGreen's distinctive and warm voice, the pieces are absolutely unmistakable.

A number of experienced and sensitive musicians, including the Danish guitarist Tom Eriksen, ensure that the music on “Reaching the Shore” never gets boring. The CD was recorded in the renowned Rotenburger Toolhouse studios, largely using analog recording technology, and was released by the young Hessian label Fachwerk Studios.
